“How did you escape?” I asked Sally.

We talked about so many other things that happened since the day she went.

The following day, Sally woke up early to prepare to go and get her certificates. I wrote her a cheque and gave her enough pocket money to enable her move around comfortably. I also went to work as usual.
Collins was the first person I met once I got to my work place.

“Tell me more about Charles, you seem like you do not want Charles to go back to Irene, and as you already know, my Sally is back so Irene will have to go. What is it about Charles?” I asked Carol.
“I will let you know today about Charles, just make sure you and Collins accompany me to my place. I shall be brief and let you go. Meanwhile, I don’t know how you will do it, but keep Irene preoccupied enough not to go back to Charles.” Carol told me sounding very serious.

Irene was the one who asked the most questions and she seemed to know more about the position. Besides, she had a cousin she really wished to get the job. Mine was to record everything being discussed in that meeting, albeit secretly so that I could use it to see if it would be of any help to Sally to fill in the position.
As soon as the meeting ended, Irene followed me and told me, “My cousin has already sent his application to try his luck.” It surprised me since it seemed she was really ahead of time compared to our plans in the company.
“Seems the boss and Irene as closer than I thought.” Carol said once we settled in the office.
“Yes, they are close and friends for that matter. Seems like she could easily take over from her.” I told Carol.
Carol seemed to be filled with anxiety.
When I told Collins that Carol wanted us to go to her place, he was over the moon with joy and anticipation.
